As a research assistant (in German wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft/ short HiWi), students can put theoretical content from their studies into practice and earn money at the same time. The hourly wages are currently 10.77€ or 12.52€ for students with a completed bachelor's degree. (as of May 2021)

At the Geodetic Institute (GIK), Institute for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (IPF) or Fraunhofer Institute IOSB, very diverse tasks arise. The offer of Hiwi-jobs ranges from the supervision of other students in the context of tutorials or surveying exercises to the correction of exercise sheets to the cooperation in current research projects or software development. This gives all students the opportunity to contribute according to their interests and strengths. In contrast to conventional research assistant jobs, students work closely with their supervisors and can thus contribute their own ideas and implement them directly.

The versatile offer also includes, for example, the development of a quasi-autonomous robot that is to carry out height checks of hall floors with the highest precision:
