Project Geoinformatics 2025/26 – BIM Model of Building 20.40
In the course Project Geoinformatics, Elisabeth Kral, Federico Greco, Lai Wei, and Johannes Huber created a digital model of our institute building 20.40 and visualized it on the web.

In the course Project Geoinformatics, Elisabeth Kral, Federico Greco, Lai Wei, and Johannes Huber created a digital model of our institute building 20.40 and visualized it on the web.
First, a point cloud was captured with the Z+F FlexScan and processed in CloudCompare. BIM modeling was performed with 3D‑Worx, while semantic modeling was done in Blender using the Bonsai BIM plugin. The web‑based visualization was implemented with the open‑source library ThatOpen.
The result can be viewed under “Contact and Directions” (https://www.gik.kit.edu/kontakt.php) on the GIK website, allowing users to locate important rooms and lecture halls in building 20.40.
